 Afghanistan won by 69 runs. Yes, you read it right. Who has thought that the defending champion and gutsy England would lose to Afghanistan? Afghanistan's spin trio had England bound in their spin magic. Batting first, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran gave a fabulous start. Although they lost the next few wickets quickly, Ikram Alikhil built brilliant partnerships down the order and helped his team put 284 on the board. No matter how much you try to convince yourself that it is just another match, the India vs Pakistan contest in the World Cup does not let you keep calm. Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama scored centuries despite facing the terrifying Pakistan bowlers.  At one point, it looked like the score was ticking towards 370, but Pakistan bowlers restricted the Lankan middle order at the end. While chasing, Pakistan played with positive intent and chased the target comfortably. Opener Abdullah Shafique and No. 4 Muhammad Rizwan scored centuries that navigated the team to a brilliant victory. This is the highest chase in the World Cup history.  With immense confidence from their first win against Australia, the Men in Blue took on Afghanistan in their second encounter at Delhi. Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. Despite the early blows, the Afghani middle order kept the scoreboard ticking and gave India a 273 target to chase. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan opened the batting for India and provided the much-needed momentum.  The Indian skipper hit a magnificent century and broke several records. This is Rohit's seventh century, the most in tournament history. Rohit surpassed Sachin Tendulkar in maximum centuries and broke Chris Gayle's maximum sixes in ODIs.
